THIS PAGE IS ABOUT JOHN LONDON OF NEW JERSEY AND THE DESCENDANTS OF HIS 4 SONS. THIS WILL BE A WORK IN PROGRESS AND HOPEFULLY CORRECTED AND ADDED TO BY THE DESCENDANTS. John died in 1778, he is listed as a blacksmith. He left his wife Elizabeth his personal estate. He named his 4 sons in the will: Edward, John, Joseph and Isaiah. His grave has not been located. The will was written and signed August 20, 1778, the inventory was done October 27, 1778, so he had died between those dates. Will and appraisal are filed at the New Jersey State Archives, file No. 10712C. Fred C. London in his book "The London Family of Jefferson County Pennsylvania", August 1995, gives us the following information: "During the 1770's John London, a blacksmith, and his wife, Elizabeth, were residents of Little Egg Harbor Township in Burlington County, New Jersey. Little Egg Harbor with its principal town, Tuckerton, was a major seaport for the Atlantic coast at that time. The area is now a part of Ocean County. The relationship, if any, of John to other Londons living in New Jersey in the 18th Century is not yet known". We do not know our John's birthdate or place. Nor his parents names. Since Peter and Joseph Wever (Weaver) were executors of his will, some believe Elizabeth's maiden name was Wever (Weaver) - but, the Weavers of Little Egg Habor have been identified and there is no Elizabeth. The earliest record we have of John is the September, 1773 tax list for Little Egg Harbor Township, which shows him as owning 22 acres and two cows. LATER INFORMATION WILL FOLLOW FOR THE FOUR SONS OF JOHN LONDON.
